On a balmy Sunday morning the Under 14.5s Ulladulla Football Club travelled to Nowra to take on Bay and Basin Bombers in the preliminary final. Loser is all over red rover.
We started well with the guys in the middle working well and dominating, unfortunately the forwards did not work well together, but the back line was stellar.
Scores at quarter time 1.2.8 to 1.2.8 even stevens; second quarter saw us running down hill and it was time to start scoring. Luckily we did!
A good goal to finals specialist Brad started us rolling, followed by little Jim Clough and Jesse.
Then a snap from the Under 12 himself Jordy and we had a good half time lead 8.4.52 to 2.4.16.
Third quarter we had to hold them as they had the wind and downhill to their advantage.
Coach Cluff spoke about not letting them back in the game and we didn't. Brad's kicking gave us a great lead by kicking 2.8 to their one behind.
Everyone rallied to the cause.
Last quarter we ran it out to a 72-point victory.
Super games from everyone and special thanks to all the under 12s Locky, Jono and Jordy. It is great to see our future stars going so well.
Remember no train no play so get yourselves to training.
Awards to Brad Brill Café, little Jim Gatts Café and Jesse Capt'n Seafood.
Thanks to all the parents for getting you there on time and see you all at training.
NEXT WEEK
We play the grand final at Bomaderry next Sunday against Batemans Bay. The game will start at approximately 11.40am with presentations directly afterwards.
CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations must go to big Jim as he has coached both junior teams this year. He has had help from several others, which has been fantastic.
Jim has introduced the team play and tactics for the finals initializing instrumental strategies on game day. Well done Jim, great effort.
PRESENTATION DAY.
Again, due to the fantastic finals series by the 14.5s, the presentation day is put off until Sunday week, September 14.
We will be doing our vote count and having a barbecue. The day starts at 10.30am and it will be at the Lions Park Burrill Lake, and all are welcome.
FANTASTIC YEAR
The Pirates have had an absolutely fantastic cracker of a year. The seniors have been hugely successful by just entering into the South Coast competition and fielding a team every week.
Recognition must go to Shane and his team for doing this. They also secured fantastic resources in the first aid/runner/water girl and all round good sport, thank you.
The under 12s had a blinder making it to the elimination final, well done guys.
Also to have one of the Pirates juniors win the trip to Melbourne to see the grand final, well done Jay Clatworthy.
NEXT YEAR
Looks even better than this. There is a lot of interest around the club and aussie rules in our local area at the moment and especially around the under 17s. It would be fantastic for the club to see this age group grow to the stage where it could enter its own under 17s.
The seniors are looking strong and are hoping to become more professional in respect to training and commitment to games and the club by all players.
NEW STRIP
The club will be playing in a new strip next year. Great news, all juniors and seniors aligned in gear.
SPONSORS
The club thanks all of their sponsors for 2008.
John Clatworthy, head of sponsor acquirements, has done a fantastic job this year. The sponsors around the club are fantastic and are greatly appreciated by all within the Pirates.
