Milton school student, Zach Churchill recently attended Darwin, Northern Territory, with the New South Wales PSSA cricket side.
Zach returned with a gold medal, after New South Wales took a share of first place, after beating co-winners Victoria, in the last game.
Both states won four of their five games.
Zach performed solidly for New South Wales, with both the bat and the wicket keeping gloves.
He top scored with 17 in a low-scoring affair against South Australia.
He also scored a quick 14 against the Northern Territory, in a game where all batsmen got into the teens but did not go on to bigger scores.
The batting over the whole carnival was difficult due to the damp pitches (heavy dew) and high humidity making the pitches sticky and two paced. There were only two half centuries over the whole carnival.
Over the four games Zach played in (he missed the game against the Australian Capital Territory due to illness) his dismissals included six stumpings and three catches in his role as wicket keeper. He was also involved in a direct hit run-out.
Zach would also like to take the opportunity to thank his sponsors who included Timezone Funland, Mollymook Golf Club, Milton-Ulladulla Bowling Club, Ulladulla United Cricket Club and the Shoalhaven Junior Cricket Association.
He would also like to thank the people who supported him in buying tickets (or selling them, including his mate, Aengus Ylias) and his parents and family for their support.
