SHOALHAVEN City Council's deputy mayor Paul Green has thrown his support behind a 'family friendly' team in Ward 3 in the lead up to the September 13 local government elections.
The team consists of Paul Crisp as number one on the ticket followed by Gary Stewart, Doug Knight and Steven Avasalu.
"I am backing this team because I believe that this team's experiences both as parents, business people and individuals will produce great results for Ward 3," Cr Green said this week.
"I believe this team will deliver a great city in which to work, rest and play".
Cr Green said the team was committed to building stronger families in Ward 3 and the wider Shoalhaven.
"Of course the by- product of building strong families is that it builds stronger communities," he said.
Father of two Paul Crisp is a business consultant who moved to the region after living in the Middle East.
He spent 20 years in the airline industry working at a senior management level.
Mr Crisp has travelled extensively throughout the world as a business representative and is also a board member of an international support/counselling group which focuses on the restoration of people's lives.
He is a keen surfer and a member of the Highway Christian Church and says his main priority is providing for his wife Cathy and their two children.
"I want to help people see the great opportunity the Shoalhaven has for managed, smart and effective change," Mr Crisp said this week.
"I believe the people of Ulladulla can see the need for new leadership which is open and transparent."
Gary Stewart is the manager of the Burrill Pines Motel and Conference Centre and shares the ministry opportunities at the local Presbyterian Church.
He has been living locally for the past 27 years and has two children with wife Pauline.
Doug Knight has been married to wife Suanne for the past 22 years and they have three children.
Doug ran a successful business in Ulladulla for several years and now works as the chaplain at Ulladulla High School and Shoalhaven Anglican School.
Young Steven Avasalu is a member of Shoalhaven City Council's Youth Advisory Committee.
A keen musician, he believes he can contribute to the cause of youth and young adults in council planning.
Cr Green this week spoke highly of Mr Crisp, describing him as a "fine family man" looking to bring a strong focus back on families and jobs.
"One of Mr Crisp's strength is his ability to listen - something I know this community has felt lacking in the current council," Cr Green said.
He said it was Mr Crisp who helped explain to him the "great need" for council to support both the further expansion of the West Ulladulla Sporting Complex as well as the Future Park.
"Some candidates are very public with their approach to solving problems and others are quiet achiever and this is certainly how I see Mr Crisp. I know he will get the job done for Ward 3."
