Bannisters the best second year running

23/07/2008 12:06:00 PM
BANNISTERS Restaurant in Mollymook has been named the region's top restaurant for the second year in a row in the South Coast Restaurant and Catering Awards held on Monday in Wollongong.

The multi-award winning restaurant beat a host of other top restaurants in the region to claim the major prize of the night after having picked up the Restaurant in a Resort award earlier in the evening.

Over 30 awards were handed out at the ceremony on Monday night at Novotel North Beach Wollongong to acknowledge excellence in food and service in the area.

Judges commented that Bannisters had continued to impress in the past 12 months and mirrored the excellent standard that was now represented in many of the top restaurants in the area.

The restaurant and its staff were said to continue to provide customers with an exceptional standard of food and service that they had come to expect.

They mentioned that guests could only be impressed by the combination of the setting, the serenity of service and the food itself.

The restaurant again now goes on to compete in the state's regional finals later this year.

Elizan's Restaurant, located at the Ulladulla Guest House, picked up the award for Restaurant in a hotel/motel/guesthouse adding another award to the restaurant's many notable achievements.

Burrill Lake restaurant Laguna D'Zur received an honourable mention in the self nominated Tourism Restaurant category.

City Beach Function Centre was given an Honourable Mention as Caterer of the Year.

Restaurant and Catering New South Wales representative Robert Goldman said that he was heartened but not surprised to see more than 300 people attend this year's awards, an indication of the strong community that is the South Coast hospitality industry.
